Thank you, Michael. I've read this story twice now to different groups and have had some wonderful feedback. Touches a nerve, I think.

A wonderful story Nancy. It is a scene that too many of our legislators and the general public have missed. Thanks to you, more people will now become aware of it, and perhaps become motivated by it.

Just beautiful, Nancy. All the more so because it is no doubt true all across our nation. I pray for the safe return of all our soldiers. Carol

Dearest Nancy! Once again you have touched my heart. I felt I was there with that little boy, his chubby legs like my son's were when he was a toddler. There are so many thoughts that come to mind from your wonderfully written description. I thank you for making my day a brighter one. I just had a friends daughter die of Encephalitis, barely three months to her upcoming wedding.
Your story lightened the load, made me feel better, and I sure wish you had been my English Lit. Teacher. I love your descriptions that strike a place in the heart where they stay to be pulled out in such sad times.
Beautiful job by a beautiful lady.
Blessings,
Bonnie J-Lowe

Thanks so much, Bonnie, for your beautiful note. And my sympathy to you for the sad loss you're experiencing. It's always more difficult when it's a young person with so much to live for.
Hugs,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,
If this precious true story doesn't strike a chord in every reader and cause them to smile, then something is wrong with the reader. I loved every detail of your story and wish you could be there when the soldier/father returns from his second tour of duty and greets his son again at an older age. I'd like to think that both will recall that memorable hide and seek moment with more squeals and squeezes.
Blessings and joy,
Sandi in FL.

Thanks Sandi. I've often wondered about that young father and have prayed for that special reunion between him and that sweet little boy.
