A lovely reflection on the passage of one year to another! I've always felt it proper that the new year arrives in the dead of winter (not that it's all that dead on the Coast of Texas). Winter seems to depict death of growth and greenery, (and death of the old year) and then here comes the new year, with new promises and hope. Carol

Hello Kathleen, lovely descriptions of enjoying log fires, gale force winds, knowing that new shoots are busy underneath the earth. Your poems also makes me see vibrant lacy trees on the horizon. I won't rush because I love winter. Veronica

Must be spring comes earlier there than here in New York State, USA. We get our first flowers about early April. It sounds lovely there. Makes me long to visit the Emerald Isle. Thanks for sharing. Janet
