Your title said it all. What wonderful memories you brought back to me of Guy Lombardo and his band. It is hard to believe they started playing the year I was born. Thanks for a very informative piece of writing. Gail

Thanks, Gail. Guy Lombardo was indeed a U.S. and Canadian treasure. There's now some hope that the music center in Ontario that honored him will be reopened so new generations can better appreciate his great contribution to popular culture and his standing as THE favorite son of London, Ont.

I recall Lombardo and Dorsey playing at our Columbia Gardens pavillion to the copper miners as well as the local elite of the day. Oh my, what a sound up close. Great story.....Kathe

Lombardo had a real impact on people of all kinds, didn't he -- and obviously, a lasting impact. Glad you liked the story.

I can remember as a child, hearing Guy Lombardo and many other great bands on my grandmothers radio. as they sang along to the music. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for getting me to remember the great pleasure I had listening to music over my grandmother's radio.I wonder what grandmothers of today play on their radios and whether those tunes are as memorable as those of our days.

Well this grandmother loves the music of all ages, but I grew up in the 60s so you know where my heart lie's. LOL
