What lovely memories of a special lady, and a special place, Nancy. Beautifully written, and thoroughly enjoyed by me! And I really wonder how Balaton, Minnesota got it's name? I have special memories of a Lake Balaton, which, of course, is in Hungary, as you know.

Your aunt evidently made an impact on you - the details you remember are amazing. Sounds like somewhere and someone I would have liked to spend the summer with. Beautifully written ...

This is a memory remembered beautifully in that special Nancy way of writing. I love the contrast you portray between two lives -- yours in the city, and great-aunt Jane's in the country. How astonishing everything must have been to you. No wonder you remember it still. ~Maria

Glad you shared these memories with Aunt Jane's family. Bet they loved this story. You've given us much fodder on describing your days and things and events. I'm so inspired after reading these adventures and believe I'll give it a whirl. As usual, Nancy, so beautifully done. K

Heartwarming story and memories rich with vivid details of a time long ago shared by you and your great Aunt Jane.
Thanks for telling it so beautifully!

Hi Nancy,
Two years ago I read this wonderful story (May, 2006 comment reminded me.), and lo and behold, re-reading it is like another visit to your Aunt Jane's country home! Actually, I enjoyed this second read even more than the first. I didn't remember the powder puff that first time, but the homemade cookies, oh... I did recall those!
Such happy times from childhood are nice to read about and share.
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

I'm really thrilled that you chose to read one of my stories a second time. That's neat.
