What a beautiful poem! Brought back childhood memories of my father's anxious face as we gathered around a single candle during war-time blackout. I, too little to understand thereason.

I've been hoping to see another of your mother's poems again. This one tugs at the heart but has a soft beauty of its own and brings memories of nights that brought worry, sadness and concern until the light of dawn eased the trouble.

Thank you Nancy. I love the visuals in this little poem, especially the one in the little church. My mother loved to light candles in rememberance of people in all kinds of siituations. At her funeral service, it was said, "she light so many candles, she was a threat to global warming." Watch for April Anne's piece. It's great. Veronica
