Who'd have ever thunk of such tomfoolery?

I've seen ladders fall and cars wreck because of swerving to avoid cats, black or otherwise so I think twice about old superstitions. I would have added a flip-flop, spike heel or a baby's shoe to the new foundation just to continue the tradition. Enjoyed your history story immensely. Gail

Perhaps I should have placed an old shoe under the house in Augusta, Georgia.

I like that story. I have such fond memories of Halloween when I was growing up. I had a chance to visit Springfield, Ohio when I went to our class's 50th class reunion last month. Gosh we're getting old.

I guess I'll take another trip down memory lane this week when I write another story. I just hate all the editing. lol

My surgery went well.

Hi Fred,
This is a new tradition/custom to me...but so very interesting. I wonder if the people who first put the shoes in the foundation in 1860 even considered that more than a hundred years later, someone would discover the shoes there?!
I also wonder where this tradition originated.
Blessings,
Sandi in fL.
