Oh, Cindy, you're lucky Larry didn't have a video camera handy. You would have ended up on America's Funniest Home Videos.
Good story!

Funneee, Cindy! I remember you and Larry were camping at the lake one weekend and you invited us out to spend some campfire time. When we got there, we could see that you were fishing on the lake shore, so we headed that way. After greetings from you and Larry (and a very excited Trooper), I noticed that there were three fishing chairs set up and asked who else was out there with you. You and Larry exchanged sheepish glances and explained that one was Trooper's chair. Trooper, however, preferred Larry's deluxe chair--padded, built-in drink holder...the works--and left his plain-Jane webbed aluminum lawn chair for Larry!

You're right Karen. We learned long ago if dog/Trooper sat in the grass then came inside the camper he brought fleas, ticks & stickers along w/ him. Trooper liked to be where the action was. As he got older he didn't see or hear as well. While we were sitting around the campfire (black haired Trooper sound asleep in his chair)I whispered to Larry, "I hear something stirring around behind me." Larry didn't answer so I finally got up to go see what it was. Turned out to be an armadillo. I went back to the campfire as it was getting dark. About 20 mintues later Trooper woke up, jumped out of his chair & ran off barking. Luckly Trooper was able to follow his nose back to us!
He really was a special dog & I'll remember him forever.
