My wife and I were in Florida in the early sixties. We often went to a drive in called A&W Root Beer. There they attached a little tray to the door of the car. The girls all wore a cute little red & white uniform and were on roller skates. Business there was brisk, the food was good and the Root Beer was the best. I was transferred to Maryland and never saw a place like that again. It was nice and I have missed it many times.

We had an A&W here in ElDorado and I loved those root beer floats. They don't make them like that anymore. Thanks Carol and Fred for the memories. Gail Martin

I still like to make my own root beer floats in the summer. Get your A&W root beer in a can at the supermarket and add vanilla ice cream. Of course, now I make it diet root beer and frozen yogurt (no fat).
Thanks Carol, we used to make our drink order at the Sonic a cherry-vanilla soda combination. It was the stopping area for all the high school kids hoping to spot their friends out cruising.
