Oh, Veronica, such a poignant piece! It brought tears to my eyes. How special to have these mementos of a loved one, so intimate a record of the times and people that touched her. Thanks for sharing. Carol

You said so very much here about the things your mother left you and how much a small item as that little black book has meant to you. Only recently, one of my brothers sent me my mother's recipe box, and what a wonderful afternoon I spent with it--reading her little quips and comments on the cards, seeing the names of people from long, long ago on recipes she'd saved. And best of all, seeing her handwriting again. It was almost like a visit with her, so I understand exactly what you meant in your posting here. Thanks for sharing.

Veronica - this is really a special piece of writing. I'm glad you have these little black books with their precious memory triggers.
It's so sad to go to estate sales and see someone's momentos go to strangers or tossed aside as meaningless.
