I like this! I was raised in California around dust bowl refugees. My father was from Texas, many of my relatives and inlaws from Kansas & Oklahoma. Email has made it possible for me to maintain contact with many of them. You remind me of my no-nonsense aunt, who is one tough tamale!

Gail, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your story about Nellie Cronk. It's like a mini biography, and she was quite a woman! Modern times differ so much from those early days of last century, and teaching was also quite different. It was nice to read that Nellie touched the lives of so many students during her long career in various classrooms. She would certainly be pleased with your remembrances of her life.

Thanks Sandi, I gave a copy to her neice who is in a nursing home and one to the church library where she was a long time member. Both were very pleased so I'm sure Nellie was too. Now it is out there world-wide for all to read thanks to Scott and OurEchoes. Gail

An extremely wonderful human being and gifted teacher. I was reminded of my fifth grade teacher. A baptist preacher, he was an extraordinary teacher. Thanks for the memories, Gail. David
