I was pleased to see this story. I live less than an hour from the Kaaterskill Falls. Last year I took a day to go see them myself. Many an artist has tried at different times of the year to capture the awesome beauty of the falls and many paintings of them can be found throughout the Catskills. They are in Rip VanWinkle country. When I went to see them last year, I was unaware there had been a major landslide and the road was closed for many months while crews worked to reopen it. I tried every possible approach to get near them but was unsuccessful. After reading your story it is just as well because if your daughter couldn't make it I am sure an old man with bad knees like me couldn't either.

Thank you, Fred. The falls are beautiful. Ginny and I love them. We try to make at least one trip there a year

Mike,
I love the way you write, and the photos you added to this "father-daughter" climbing story are like extra frosting on a good cake. I'm glad that you and Vanessa made it back to level, lower ground safely!
You have that wonderful ability to take an ordinary situation and teach a delightful lesson which ties in with it. Thank-you for noticing the details in everyday life that enable you to do just that.
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.
