I didn't have a sock monkey when I was a kid, but my friend did. His name was Chester and he was always included in our tea parties. We were pretty rotten, can’t imagine why we didn’t think of the kissing trick! Great memory piece. BJ

Oh, I had a sock monkey! I'm not sure what happened to it, more than likely I wore it out. But, about 20 years ago I found some in a little shop and bought another. It's still like new, and has been resting in a drawer since the day I bought it. Don't ask me why a grown woman had to have another one!!

Kathy, re your comment about why a grown woman would want a sock monkey reminded me that I ran across a Raggedy Ann doll at a garage sale about 20 years ago, and I had to have it. I was in my 50s at that time, and was a tad embarrassed about getting myself a toy, but got it anyway. My Raggedy Ann has sat under my Christmas tree each year since, and lounges in the guest room otherwise. Hmmm . . . sounds like a story there. Carol

I haven't been on OurEcho as much as I'd like lately (life so often gets in the way of our pleasures!) so I'm glad I took the time this morning to scan back through recent posts and found this story, Cindy. Very nicely written, with various sock monkey connections woven in. The tie-up at the end with websites for more info is excellent. Loved the photo too. Aunt Carol
