I love your bookshelves (and most of the same authors that you mention). That's my idea of cosy... floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a rainy day, and time to read.
Your pets must be book lovers too as they couldn't resist getting into the pictures.

A delightful story of your love of books! The details of organizing and increasing the capacity of shelves have inspired me to get mine in better shape. The photos enhance the story--aren't shelves of books beautiful! I try for subject / author categorization, but within those, I can't stop myself arranging by color and size. Carol

I really enjoyed your musings about the books in your life and in your home. I feel so sorry for people who don't read. They miss ever so much. I find something very comforting about walking into a home with lots of books in it.

Hi Cynthia,

Oh, how I loved to read about your books! I agree with Nancy when she says that she feels sorry for people who don't read. I do too! I have been a reader ever since I was in first grade, and I have not stopped since. I have tons of books and bookcases as well, but I am more organized now in that I have given many, many books away to hospitals, nursing homes, charities, etc., especially paperbacks. I simply cannot keep them all. I still have a lot, though. I do visit the library, but there is something special about owning a book. Keep reading!

I like the pictures of your books. I too was fascinated by houses in movies with libraries and wished for my own. Unfortunately I’ve lived the life of a nomad and moving books isn't easy, so I only allow myself a limited collection. My most cherished is a first edition of Willa Cather’s Sapphira and the Slave Girl. BJ

Hi Cynthia,
Your love for reading is quite obvious, and the photos really add to your story. I'd love to look over your book collection and pick out one to read! It would be like visiting a small library!
Keep on reading,
Sandi in FL.

Thanks for your reply. It was funny when my sister was taking the pictures my pets (2 cats & dog) just seemed to want to be in the pictures as well. I've always wanted to be a writer, to get my novel or children's story published. Right now I'm in the midst of helping put together a writing conference here in Wichita, Kansas on the first weekend in Oct. 5-7th, for Kansas Authors Club. Theme: "Pen Life As Art Write From The Heart"

I enjoy reading & find so many good books out there, that it's really hard to get much real writing done.

Ah, the Martin love of books--my dream house would be filled with walls of bookshelves! When I worked in a library, it was such a joy every morning just to walk in and smell the books and take them all in. And my idea of a fun day off is to go to a bookstore or another library!

As Bill and I were discussing the things we need in a bigger house, I said, "garage & basement." He said, "And, I want a library."

Ah yes, room for more books is important when buying a new home. That reminds me I have a stack of books for Bill, all of them are crime related stories. If I try & read them before I give them to him then it will take forever. I always enjoy a good murder mystery as long as the bad guy gets caught & punished for his/her crime. Unsolved mysteries bug the heck out of me.
