What a lovely story this poem tells, not of the loss but of what the bus meant to all and of the men on it. I have loved all your mother's poetry, Veronica. Am always so pleased when you post another. I leave for my trip to Ireland on June 16th. Will spend 3 days in England and then to Ireland on the 20th (our 43rd anniversary that day!). We should be there traveling around the country for about 2 weeks. I'm quite excited about seeing the land where my great-grandparents came from.

Dear Nancy, I appreciate your comments about my mother's poems. She could make up a poem at the drop of a hat. The Graiguenamanagh Bus was like a live village on wheels. I'll be eager to hear about your trip to Ireland. I think you'll love it. Veronica

I'm so honored that this poem is in The Hall of Fame. Charlie and Johnny will always be remembered. This bus was like a living village on wheels, everyone talking, bikes, parcels stacked safely and the yellow baby chicks cheeping. Charlie knew how to turn the wheel as we swung around narrow corners, under low branches and bounced over bridges. Veronica
