Oh, Donald, I just want to weep for you and all you've been through since you were a young boy. My childhood was vastly different from yours. My parents were two loving, good, wonderful people, so I was raised in a home where I always felt loved, safe and secure. You suffered too much, too often, and I'm so sorry that having a birth defect added to your sorrow. Thank God you've survived to adulthood and now understand and comprehend that what was happening to you was horrible abuse that should not have been tolerated, but sadly, such heinous acts still go on behind closed doors today. It breaks my heart to think about it.
Thank you for having the courage to write about it with honesty and feeling. By doing so I hope this has brought some closure to your past hurts.
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

What a sad, tragic story!

Oh, such sadness - I could hardly bear to read this account of your time in Cuba. Of course, you were not to blame for the horrible treatment at the hand of your parents, or from suffering due to the older boys' cruelty. I read in your Bio that you were a minister for 40 years, which tells me that you found salvation in a loving God. That, plus counseling has freed you from bitterness, it appears. You are a survivor and God's purpose for your life has come to be carried out in a beautiful way. Keep writing and showing the world that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Jesus loves you, this I know. ~ Susan

That was a very heartfelt write Donald. I'm so sorry you had to endure the pain and mental/physical/emotional abuse that you have, especially when you're just a child and have no means of self-defense. Your story brought back a lot of my childhood memories and I felt so many different emotions reading this write; compassion, empathy, sadness, anger (I acually got a little weak feeling in my stomach). Very very well written. I hope you have finally overcame your past and thank you so much for sharing it with us :-) It's a write that a lot of people will be able to relate to and look forward to putting their horrid past behind them.....God Bless you....

Best wishes,
Stacy
