I enjoyed this story. I was smiling all the way through and I could just picture that 13 year old. I remember all of those terms of the post Vietnam era except one. "Tootles?" You got me there. Glad you got to see him in person.

Maybe tootles was a girl thing. It still slips out occasionally. Thanks for the comment Fred. BJ

Great memory piece. I could just see you as a thirteen year old girl swooning over Sir Paul. For me, it was Sinatra, and I'm still crazy about him.

I have seen all of Sinatra's movies and I have a double CD of his that I listen to frequently. He's not too shabby. BJ

You should like Sir Paul, you're the lucky friend I took with me! BJ

B.J. Roan,

Great nostalgic story, really well done. You captured the era quite well, and brought my memories of those days back to mind.

Good job, Ashley

As Gail suggested, I started out to write about my hot pink hula hoop. This is where that story went. Thanks for the comment. BJ

What a fun story you've penned, BJ! Did you ever iron your long hair to make it straight? Did you "hully gully" around the dance floor? While reading your story, I found myself experiencing the same breathless excitment that you were feeling at the sight of Sir Paul, by far the cutest of the "Fab Four"! The concert ticket was a great 50th birthday present...to remember with lotsa smiles for the rest of your life. ~ "Tootles" ~ Susan

I tried ironing my hair…once. That would be a whole other story! Oh the hully gully, that one I forgot about. Seeing Paul McCartney in concert was groovy man. Dig it? Thanks for the comment. BJ

I fell in love with Paul McCartney, too, way back in 1964. Every night I listened on my turquoise and white plastic radio to "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and other favorite Beatles' songs played by various stations. I just knew that if somehow Paul and I could meet in person, he'd fall in love with me, too! You lucky gal, I never even got to be in the same auditorium or concert hall with him, but still think he's a handsome, talented gent.
Sincerely,
Sandi in FL.
