Boy this one brings back some memories. With us it was Blueberries instead of blackberries, but the rest of it is similar in many ways. The snake also reminds me of a couple of things for me to write about one of these days. Thanks for the memories and the laughs.

Oh, BJ, great story and so well done. I was a city kid and thot picking berries out in the Puyallup Valley would make my friends and I wealthy at 12. I think I made a total of a buck- fifty for my labors and have never picked a berry since, nor will I ever, no matter how luscious they are. Kath

No easy money there! You won't find me picking wild blackberries these days. My brother planted his in nice neat rows. Much easier to get to than those wild ones. When he runs out, I head for the grocer's freezer section. BJ

Great story! It brings back memories of picking blackberries with my Dad and sister but instead of snakes it was huge spiders! I really don't like spiders! I think we ate more berries than we ever brought home! Well done! CJ

Is there anything better than hand-picked blackberries, homemade cobbler and ice cream? I think not. Is there anything worse than chigger bites, and why do the little beasties find the hidden places to do their damage? I could sure identify with your picking one tasty berry and eating two, etc. There's not a child alive who has not followed suit!
I loved this story, BJ. ~ Susan

Ah hah, someone who knows those devious little chiggers well. I have a friend who has never heard of them. Lucky girl! Thanks Susan. BJ
