Wonderful story, plus enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for sharing your moment in time. Your mother-in-law has a most unusal name. Do you happen to know the meaning of her name?

It's a French name, but her friends call her Bettty.

A delightful essay! Photos help set the scene for sure. I almost felt/heard the voices! Carol

The lead-in to this story felt like it could be the start of a Mary Stewart novel! (I'd love to read it when you get it written!)

Where did Cindy see a name other than Betty for your mother-in-law? (Maybe you revised the piece.) Made me curious to know what her French name was.

I enjoyed this piece a lot.

You must be thinking of Mary Stewart's Madam Will You Talk, and the landscape in the south of France or the one set in Greece.
