A very thoughtful essay on what we fondly call 'the good old days' and the ending says it all! Glad to welcome you to my favorite writing & reading place. As ever, Gail

Nice story, Diana. Funny how small things can remind us of major-or minor-occurances or experiences in our lives! I know that whenever I see or even think of a neon orange or green color or combination, I have some bittersweet memories of my late childhood and early adolescence(colors popular at that time long ago). I guess the same holds true for a happy homestead. Being raised in San Francisco myself, I can appreciate your memories of life in Montana, one of the few US states I have not yet visited. I live in a very rural (dirt and cobblestone roads) setting now, and I couldn't be happier.

Delightful reading, and as if reading my own story...my grandparent's farm was in Greenville, Ohio. It is a treasured place in my memories like no other. Really enjoyed your memories, Diana, and aren't we glad we can keep such memories tucked away for so many years and they are always fresh and always make us smile. Bari
