It is good to read about 'the other side of the story.' In the oilfiels of Kansas in the thirties, my family had bad dealing with the unions. Sure enough unions affected my whole life. Gail

Thanks for your comment. Some unions are good, some bad, but in my 49 years of reporting on them, I've found most are good, or at least as good as their members can make them.

I remember one of my high school teachers giving a lecture on work ethic. During that lecture we were told to be loyal to our employers and they would be loyal to us in return. Those words no longer apply to a country where corporations see their employees as disposable, something to be traded for a healthier bottom line. We need more people like Harry Bridges in this world. BJ

Thanks much, Kathe. It means a lot to me to hear that I did Harry justice. Though we sometimes argued, he was -- and remains -- one of my very few heroes and, I hope, a hero of many others.
