As always Fred, full of interesting
material to ponder. However, your last
thought sums it up - pollution causes
sickness and birth defects. That is frightening and it is not being addressed. And I'm not sure you explained what is causing the slow but surely disintegration of the polar ice caps. Sounds like global warming to me! Sorry if I missed some of your salent points. I am predisposed to
addressing belching factories and car emissions. These environmental concerns need to be addressed TODAY.
They should have been addressed YESTERDAY. Let us not worry about "technicalities" and start cleaning up our environment. Our food is tainted with pesticides; our farm animals are injected with hormones.
Sadly, our consumer-driven society is
slowly but surely causing havoc to our health and well-being. Thanx for reminding us.

I am not so sure the polar ice caps are shrinking because there are areas that are commonly open water that have now frozen over. Even if they are shrinking, the history of the earth shows that it is cyclical in nature. There also is evidence that under the polar ice caps, there once was open, fertile land. As I said, from time to time the earth shifts on its axis, and when it does it changes the location of the poles.

Thanks you, Fred! I hope Al Gore has a chance to read this piece - ha, ha. Very well said and I'm glad you wrote it.

I doubt he will ever read it and if he does he will just consider me to be an idiot, as everyone else who disagrees with him.

Well Fred, I have always been a person who believes that man will ruin the earth. It's all about money. The pesticides, that cause horrible disease's. I know as my husband and mysef both have a diesease caused by the invirement. Me with Multiple myeloma and him with parkinson's. It's a shame more isn't spent on common sense and not on the greed.
Enjoyed your story, but more there then that.

There may be a little confusion. I only denied global warming. I do not deny pollution. I also submit that in addition to the pollution of air and water, the additives they put in our food and beverages, preservatives, color additives and so forth are just as responsible for sickness and disease as air and water pollution. I knew a painter whose doctor told him the cause of his cancer was the fumes from the paint and related chemicals that he breathed.

Fred,
Thank you for addressing this issue. Al Gore thinks there is no true opinion but his own. But all the chatter about global warming is a bunch of hooey. Numerous people get their britches in a wad over something that Mr.Gore says is so, yet they do not take the time and effort to research the topic. You have done so, and done it quite well. I commend you.
Sincerely,
Sandi in FL.

Thankyou Sandi. Unfortunately, to many people are inclined to swallow hook, line and sinker, all that they hear from those who holler the loudest and longest. In the case of Al Gore, he does not practice what he preaches. Further, testifying before Congress, he admitted that fourteen different statements he made in his documentary were either false or unfounded. It is a matter of Congressional record. Further, he is pushing the purchase of carbon credits to become what he calls, carbon nuetral. Those carbon credits in theory, pay for some kid in Sout America to plant a tree. First, there is no evidence there is any tree being planted. Second, the leading company selling carbon credits, is owned by - you guessed it - Mr. Al Gore.

Hi again, Fred,
For some reason I decided to peruse again your post about Global Warming, then read the comments section. That's when I realized that you'd replied to my comment made in June! Thank you for responding, and many thanks for the pertinent info about Mr. Gore and his company selling those carbon credits. I definitely learned something new today!
Sincerely,
Sandi in FL.
