A nice tribute to a deserving man. Typical of the problems in not only baseball, but all sports of today. Too much politics has clouded the integrity of the sport, and of the Hall of fame.

Thanks. I think You're right. Sports, as you say, are being badly compromised by politics -- and, as I'm sure you agree, by all that money being tossed around. In today's baseball, O'Doul would be paid gazillions. maybe even as much as the obnoxious Barry Bonds who, when not busy bashing home runs for multi-millions, will gladly sell you all sorts of expense merchandise from his web site.

The kind of story baseball fans like me love to hear. Why is it that the more honest and forthright you are in any sport, the less your appreciated? Those were the days when baseball was baseball.

Thanks for your comments. I suppose at least part of the problem is the huge salaries players can expect -- as long as they don't rock the boat by speaking out honestly about the shady attempts by themselves and their bosses to extract from fans the money that makes possible those obscenely high salaries.
