Dear Fred,

A powerful and poignant posting. The letters paint a clear picture of the young man's life as a soldier during wartime, and the final letter was one beautiful piece of prose. Thank you for sharing.

Thankyou Nancy, for your comment. I was searching for information for another story when I came across those letters and I felt compelled to share them with the world. I was not sure whether they belonged on ourecho, but after reading your comment, I'm sure they did. Ourecho is world wide in scope and I am sure they will be noticed beyond our shores. I think they should be.

Thanks for those letters, they could be of a great help for me in a study of the patterns and functions of family relationships in soldier's letters of WW1. But , as an historian, I have concern about the origins of what I use as sources of info. If, in any way you have a proof of authenticity for those letters or if you could email or fax a numerization or a copy of the original letters, it would of great help to me so please reply whatever the answers and pardon me for the poor quality of my english, which is my second language
