I told my husband after the children were born that he was never to say, "We'll see." Knowing how a child feels upon hearing those words, he came up with, "Oh, I imagine we can do that." Your story was such a blessed memory of Valentine's Day and a father who loved you dearly after all. K

Wonderful story. I could see you watching your dad making your special box. Your words are very vivid.

Nancy, how lovely to hear your voice! I love the idea of a writer reading his/her story on OurEcho. It makes it all the more real. You have a wonderful speaking voice, clear and warm, and you read with such expression that I was taken right to the story, living it with you. More, please!

I loved this story. It brought back great memories of making those Valentine Boxes. What a thrill for a little girl...

Aw...that is so sweet. That must have been a good feeling. I like your writing it makes me feel...not just what the characters are feeling but my own feelings similar or in contrast to theirs

Now THAT is exactly what a writer aims for--to make other people "feel" something about what they are reading. I consider that a very nice compliment. Thank you.

What a tender, precious story. You're a talented writer as well. I don't recall anything that beautiful with my Dad, but he showed it other ways his love for his family. Thanks so much for sharing this story. And congratulations on getting it published in Chicken Soup. They're a marvelous collection of books. Janet

Thank you for your nice comment. That was my first Chicken Soup for the Soul book. I've been fortunate to be in several more since then. I hope to go back later today and read more of your postings.
