I enjoyed your memories. I must say the sorrel sounded very good. I don't think I have ever heard of it.

Marlene, this story is the first of many I hope you will post for us to read. There is such a depth of feeling you convey, and your descriptions are perfect...I could taste the sorrel, the new potatoes and sour cream. The way in which you painted the scene on the Laurentian mountain made it so clear what you had experienced with your mother that day, and with your father after he came to the spot where you were standing with her. Thank you for sharing with us. ~ Susan

This is an excellent literary piece. Your perceptions and attention to details are marvelous. I was right there on the mountain with you. I look forward to many more memorable scenes such as this one. Veronica Breen Hogle

Marlene, I've never tasted the meadow plant, sorrel, but now I want to! Your story is filled with rich details and invites the reader to stand nearby as onlooker during the peaceful exchange between you and your mother. I like everything about this piece, and am eager to read all of your other postings here on Our Echo. Kudos on your win this month...an award you definitely deserved!
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

Marlene: Your story about springtime in the mountains and its eternal thoughts for hope and life, almost brought me to tears. The shared secrets between a husband and wife, as well as the educatiuonal love between mother and daughter was beautifully written. I have never tasted the sorrel soup you described. It must be wonderful. You have a gift for the written word. Keep up the excellent work. Richard A. Silver, MD. MBA.

Marlene,

I came across your stories from the well-deserved win in the family memories contest. I read the winning entry first, and it was like chocolate melting in my mouth. Absolutely deliciously written. Now I am reading your other stories, which are equally as good. You deserved the win, with writing like this. I am ever so impressed. Congratulations are in order. Well done!
