Oh Veronica, I felt so sorry for you as I read about your first day at a new school, especially that you had to walk in all alone. Your writing is filled with the sensory details that make the reader feel they are living the experience right along with you. It's always a treat to read your work.

Dear Nancy,

I wrote this little memoir yesterday in response to Gail Martin's suggestion for school stories. The "girls from the country" had long days at school. No cafeteria and hot breakfasts or lunches in those days. No yellow school bus.

As I have said many times before, as I read your story's, I think of my Great Grandmother and I wonder if she might have done the things you speak about. Delightful. and thank you. It's probably the only way I will see Ireland, through you stories. :)
