Dick, I found this very interesting, particularly given the state of the auto industry today. It also reinforced the principle that some things never change. I refer to the disparity between execs and the workers..in spite of the union. Makes me wonder whether the workers have brought the industry to its knees or whether mismanagement has done it. Maybe both?? Thanks for the info.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, unions come and unions go, but still the corporate executives who presume to direct the work of others get much greater rewards than those who do the actual work. That's the natiure of capitalism, of course, a system that U.S. unions accept. I think we can blame management for the auto industry's current troubles, since the troubles come primarily from poor marketing and design. The autoworkers don't design or sell cars; they just make them under orders from their grossly overpaid bosses. Thanks again for your comment.
