I can really relate to this story Fred. Growing up with eight brothers and sister, out in the country, we did alot of things like that. I have a scare over my eye from sledding. We had no fear of anything. Youth it's called. Thanks for the memories.

As usual, an interesting story that brought me back a few years.
My daughter Wendy was only 10 years old and my hushand and In-laws thought she would enjoy sledding on a hill alone that was quite deep... It was her first time on this hill. I was totally against it and very nervous that she would be hurt.
She ended up going over the edge and flying off the shed we were just lucky God was with her.
I enjoyed your story and felt sad for the young girl.

Hello Fred,
Since I've never resided in 'snow country', reading about your adventures such as sledding in the snow, plus seeing the photos, is very interesting yet a tad scary to me. It only takes one tragic incident to cause one to forever remember what dangers might lurk around the next corner. I was saddened to read about the 14 year old girl on that sled. When I was in second grade, my parents bought a wooden backyard playhouse for my siblings and me, and we enjoyed hours of fun playing in it with neighorhood kids. One afternoon, Sally, the little girl who lived across the street, climbed on the playhouse roof (about six feet off the ground), accidentally fell off, fracturing her arm in several places, and after that, Daddy strongly forbid any of us to ever climb atop the small structure again. We never did either, being fearful the same fate might befall another one of us. But as kids, one often thinks that they're oblivious to such hazards or perils.
I do enjoy the way you write. One reason is because you don't dilute the content. You tell it like it is...good or bad.
Thanks,
Sandi in FL.
