Bonns, will you save me the core? I have yet to see a real live apple tree up here on my mountain.

A great story… My children expect fresh fruit year round. They look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them that as a child - you couldn't eat fresh cantaloupes in the winter.

I'm sure here in Kansas we don't know what a good apple should taste like. As a kid I remember getting a bag of candy & nuts at our school's Christmas party and there was one big, red, shiny apple. Wow it was good. Thanks for sharing yours. Gail

Delightful story. I would have loved an apple to munch on as I read your story. Good one.

As I was reading your story, my mouth was watering for a slice or two of a fresh, crisp apple. Listen! Can you hear the crunch of that first bite?
Love the way you share your memories, Bonnie.

Another well-deserved award winning entry! On one hand, I was breathing in the aroma of the apple blossoms and the fragrant apples as you wrote about them, while on the other hand, my heart hurt thinking of hungry tummies as children asked you for the apple core. What a blessing that you learned to share early on and that your family's apple barrel never came up empty. I believe it's because you all so liberally gave of what you had, which caused God to give the increase. Your life has certainly been something of the same...you have such an abundance of memories to draw from that your stories will never end. How wonderful for us as readers to find this so.
