Hi Gail,

How about using the word "gale" in place of breeze? You're right about breeze being not quite right. Even "wind" would work better. Otherwise, the poem has some nice imagery.

Gale came to my mind, too! I remember those gales well. It's still a beautiful poem....

How about, movement in the frozen drifts
Stately stalks of Bluestem grass
Shattered into icy shards like glass.
