Very beautiful story. My parents are in their early 70's and I know one day I will have to sort through their belongings and memories. A painful process I am not looking forward to. Thank you for posting.

How poignant your words are, Nancy. It is sometimes difficult to write about things like this but I'm glad you did. This is exactly how memories are kept alive. Maria

As you sift through the memories, embrace all that time has given your Mother and those she loves. Many memories will come to heart for all of you, and you will share them together as a family, with tears and laughter.

This story was written several years ago. My mother passed away two years later, and I do treasure the times with her and the many things of herself that she left with me and my brothers.

No problem at all. It did not upset me. You had no way of knowing whether she was still alive or not. I'm pleased you read and liked the story. It's one that is special to me.
