Great story, Kathy. Your dad showed so much love in all his preparations. How he must have enjoyed thinking about how surprised you'd be during all the time it took to make the preparations. Yep, that's real love. Lucky you.

Didn't you know? Staying active like that in your older years is what helps keep you going.

Yep, Dad's activity keeps him young - he's always been a go-getter. I think it's best I take a lesson from him - ya think?

I was so afraid after we lost Mom that he couldn't take care of the household things - not so! Plus, still does his own yardwork, grows a huge garden that feeds all the neighbors - he really is amazing. Thanks for your comments, Kath.

Ahhhh My girl! My girl! You have me "lusting" after one more year with my awesome dad! Who.. after a period of TRUE mourning.. made it 'just fine' without Mom for quite a number of years.

When I could not make it home around Christmas, he said he had no need for trees or lights since he "visited" his sister so often. And after all (he said) that red blooming camellia I had given them one year was full to capacity and ALL the decoration he needed!
I join you in thanking the good Lord for your wonderful dad!

I love, love, love this story! I could just visualize all the decorations and the house and the deck from your words that sprang to life! I've always heard that age is all in the mind, and that all things are mind over matter. The older I get, the more I understand that age is a number but youth is in your heart and mind! Thanks for sharing...

Well, Michelle, thank you so much. I could even feel your excitement in your comment! I've always sworn you're only as old as you "think" you are, and I'm sticking by it. Therefore, THINK YOUNG!
