I loved reading about this old-fashioned Christmas. Hopefully it will inspire other Our Echo contributors to put their holiday memories into print. Making the paper chain from colorful magazine pages would be a lot easier today using glue sticks, but still a fun family project.

Gail,

I enjoyed reading about your Christmas tree traditions. What a great idea to put the tree out for the birds to eat the popcorn and cranberries. You were recycling long before the word was commonly used.

I loved your Christmas story then and I love it still! Great writing, about a time before I came along. Carol

Gail, I'm shivering as I sit here thinking about 4-buckle boots and bundling up against the winter day as you traipsed through the snow with your father looking for the perfect cedar tree to set up in your living room. Adorning it with your family's lovingly made decorations sounds like such a fun activity...you presented these good memories so beautifully.
