I remember well some of those old silent films. In those days, actors and actresses had to really know the art of acting. Those were the days of the greats. I remarked to my wife just two days ago of the lack of really good actors anymore. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for your comment. You're right -- it takes special acting skills to show and tell without beng able to do the tell part by speaking, to tell by acting, rather than speaking.

Woody Allen and several other directors understand the importance of musical background in films...Sleepless in Seattle comes to mind also. It all began with the honky tonk piano etc. that played behind the silents films. A very interesting and thought provoking piece you've done, Dick.
