I "found" your delightful story by doing a search after reading that you won the coveted title of ur Echo's Writer of the Month. You certainly deserve it! Relished reading your remembrances about cherry cokes, ball games, comic book characters, and more, and felt like I was right there experienceing much of that myself, even though a lot of it was before my time.
Thank you so much for the innocent glimpse at days gone by. Isn't the memory a truly wonderful thing?
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

Hi, thanks for the cruise down memory lane. Although I was never in San Francisco a lot of your memories could be mine right here in Kansas. Loved those cherry cokes and Saturday movies. Gail

Thanks for your comments. If I was in Kansas, I'd treat you to a cherry coke.

Enjoyed the trip down nostalgia lane. Sometimes I feel sorry for the young folk and all they have missed in Americana.

Thanks for your comment. I agree. Think what kids are missing. TV doesn't seem much of a susbtitute for Saturday matinees, and fast-food franchises are certainly no match for neighborhood soda fountains are they.

CONGRATULATIONS! Dick,, Well Deserved- Good picture of America then. I grew-up in the 50's, but (believe it or not) missed the 40's (which I learned of in TV and movies, of course).
Living in the country had SOMETHING to do with it! At any rate, keep up the good work, and we'll pray for a change here for current Cherry AND VANILLA coke drinkers! XOXOOX

Thanks for your good wishes. Don't forget lemon cokes, too, and my all-time favorites, chocolate cokes. Though I guess they've never made it into cans.

Congratulations on your win, Dick, and congratulations on a delicious trip down memory lane! I too fear young people of today are missing out on so much creative entertainment, being under such a non-stop technological assault. Thinking up creative things to do was such a training ground for problem-solving in the workplace!

Thanks, Carol. It certainly is a shame that today's kids have so many electronic dervies to do too much of their thinking for them.

PS: That's electronic devices, of course.
