So glad you decided to post this special time in your life. Memories are wonderful in our minds but need to be captured on paper with words. Looking forward to reading more memories from you. Gail

A lovely memory. I've heard it said that "old recipes and old friends are best" Perhaps it's true.

What a well written account of your first friendship. I felt like I was right there by the hedge, listening to the conversation.
Thanks for writing and I'm looking forward to reading more of your stories. Love, Mattie

Hi sis,
You know I love this true tale, having heard it as we were growing up, and knowing both you and Mary Anna so well. You told it lovingly and with keen attention to the details. I love the way you write, and I love you a bushel and a peck! Hope this is the first of many stories you submit for other readers to enjoy.
ILY,
Sandi.

what a lovely idea to have a standing date with your life long friend for lunch. How fortunate both of you are to stay connected all these many years. Makes me wish I could track down Rachel Henney a girl I met in CT in the mid 50's. Many Blessings. --K> (ME)

What a lovely friendship story. Your attention to detail is refreshing as it fleshes out your story and gives your readers a feeling of having been there themselves. With every good wish, Mariane Holbrook, Kure Beach, NC

I have recently bumped into this site and have enjoyed the stories I have read. I truly loved reading about your first friendship and it really touched my heart to know that the friendship has lasted so long. You and Mary Anna are so fortunate. Now I would love to read some stories taken from the pages of your lives together. This was the first chapter. It kind of reminded me of the Betsy, Tacy books. Your friendship reminds me of them.
Thanks so much. Barb, Portland, OR

To Gail, Nancy, cousin Mattie, sister Sandi, niece Paige, K in ME, Mariane in NC, and Barb in OR (where one daughter-in-love is from: Keizer,OR): Thanks for taking the time to post a comment...it is so nice to hear from each of you. I wish to write a "bread & butter" note to you all because my siblings and I were taught by our parents to do this when we received a gift of any kind. Your encouraging words and interest are special gifts to me. I appreciate hearing from each of you at this site. Very sincerely ~ Susan
P.S. Barb, tell me about the Betsy,Tacy books...I'm not aware of them...sounds like I need to go to library and search them out.

Hi Susan. Maud Hart Lovelace was born in 1892 in Minnesota. The Betsy-Tacy books were written about Maud's friends, Tacy & Tib and herself. I believe there are 12 or so books in the series. Betsy-Tacy, Betsy-Tacy & Tib, Heavens to Betsy, Betsy in Spite of Herself are just a few of the series titles. Your story reminded me about them. I am anxious to read more about your adventures with Mary Anna.

Here is a website you might like to check out. Good luck to you. Barb in Oregon

Hello Susan, Great times and wonderful descriptions all put together very nicely. It's truly a huge blessing when two childhood pals can mature into best friends for the ages. That's magic and I'm so glad you told us about it. Kathe

Maude Lawrence wrote the Betsy, Tacy, and Tib book series about her childhood with her closest friends. They're wonderful, clean stories. :)
