Biography:Born in Finland and raised in Ontario, Maria has made Winnipeg, Manitoba, her home for the past twenty-seven years. She is married to Neil and they have one son, Jack, and a grandson, Logan, who is the inspiration for many a story.

Maria has always been interested in writing, but did not pursue it seriously until she gave up a long-time career in banking. After taking time to smell the roses for a few years, she took a position with the municipal government, but believes that no job compares with having a supportive family.

Maria is widely published on the Internet, the local newspaper, magazines, and most recently in Chicken Soup for the Grandma's Soul. She is currently trying her hand at fiction.

Maria believes her life mirrors the lyrics of a Jimmy Buffett song: "Some of it's magic and some of it's tragic but I've had a good life all the way."
