| Biography: | I was born in El Dorado, Kansas and I've lived within 50 miles of it all my life. I love to travel though and with my husband, David, and my two daughters, Diana and Samantha, have rambled around the country in a series of campers. My favorite destination so far in Yellowstone. It's a big country though and there may be a new favorite waiting out there for me. My first intense experience with writing was a reporter for my 4-H club. I was elected reporter two different years and with lots of encouragement from my mom was awarded a state award in newswriting both years. A lot of my enduring interests date from my 4-H years; insects (Entomology,) trees (Forestry,) photography. Camping entered my life through my husband. It was something he had been doing all his life. A more recent passion is my love for papercrafts which includes making greeting cards and scrapbook pages using rubber stamps. You'll see from my stories that my immediate family is my husband, David, who is an RN, my oldest daughter, Diana, a grad student at Emporia State University, my youngest daughter, Samantha, student at Bulter Community College, four cats, Bailey, Bennie, Bitsy and Levi. My extended family is chock full of writers and librarians. Hopefully, you'll recognize my mom, Gail Martin, my aunt, Carol Garriott, and my two sisters, Virginia Allain and Cindy Ross from their stories and poems here on Our Echo. When I'm not indulging myself, I work at a local hospital and put together the instrument sets for the doctors up in surgery. You know, scissors and such. |
