| Biography: | I'm a member of Kansas Authors Club & have been writing for several years thanks to the wonderful invention of spell-check. Happily married to my husband Larry of whom I met while in 4-H & we have two married daughters who carried on the tradition and were both 4-Her's. Through their growing up years we traveled the state collecting rocks & insects & leaves for their different projects. My hobby is the study of nature, especially birds. In 2004 after living in town many years we bought a 30 year old log home on three wooded acres near Towanda, not far from where my husband grew up on a farm. I'd noticed this house long before it ever came on the market, then when touring the yard and seeing a honeycomb of bees in the crevice of a tree curved like a big C confirmed this was the home for me. I do 1st person performances as Gene Stratton-Porter, an early 1900's author, whose books I've read and collected since 1965. One of my favorite memories from childhood is of walking or running along the many cattle paths through the Flint Hills. That old saying of "you can take the child out of the country but you can never take the country out of the child," seems to fit me well. |
